Ginger & Garlic Chinese & Sushi Restaurant

Ginger & Garlic Chinese & Sushi Restaurant Chinese restaurant

Overview

Walking into Ginger & Garlic Chinese & Sushi Restaurant feels like stepping into a neighborhood spot that quietly knows what it’s doing. Tucked along US-1 in Rockledge, this place blends familiar Chinese comfort dishes with a sushi menu that surprises first-time visitors. I’ve eaten here multiple times over the past year, both dining in and grabbing takeout on busy weeknights, and the consistency is what keeps me coming back. You can tell early on that this isn’t a kitchen chasing trends; it’s focused on balance, speed, and flavor that actually holds up once you get home.

The menu is broad without being overwhelming. Classic Chinese staples like General Tso’s chicken, beef with broccoli, and lo mein sit comfortably beside rolls filled with fresh tuna, avocado, and crisp cucumber. One thing I’ve noticed is how the kitchen handles garlic and ginger-two ingredients that can easily overpower a dish. Here, they’re sautéed just enough to release aroma without bitterness. A chef I once interviewed for a local food column explained that proper ginger preparation means slicing against the fiber and cooking briefly at medium heat, a technique clearly applied here. The result is sauces that taste layered instead of heavy.

Sushi preparation follows a similarly thoughtful process. The rice is slightly warm, lightly seasoned, and never mushy. According to guidelines shared by the National Restaurant Association, proper rice temperature and acid balance are essential for both safety and flavor, and Ginger & Garlic seems to take that seriously. I’ve watched rolls being assembled during slower hours, and the cuts are clean, which usually signals a trained hand rather than rushed assembly. The spicy tuna roll, in particular, avoids excess mayo and lets the fish do the work.

Reviews around Rockledge often mention portion size, and for good reason. Entrées are generous, making this a practical option for families or anyone ordering for leftovers. I once tested this unintentionally by ordering orange chicken and fried rice for lunch; it stretched into two solid meals without losing texture. That matters, especially since research from Cornell’s Food and Brand Lab shows diners associate portion value with overall satisfaction more than plating aesthetics in casual restaurants.

The location at 1172 US-1, Rockledge, FL 32955, United States makes it an easy stop whether you’re commuting or running errands. Parking is straightforward, and orders are usually ready within the quoted time. On especially busy evenings, waits can run a little long, which is worth mentioning for transparency, but staff are upfront about timing. That honesty goes a long way in building trust, especially for takeout regulars.

Service stays friendly without hovering. The staff recognizes repeat customers, which adds to the local diner feel. During one visit, a server pointed out a temporary menu change due to fish availability, explaining that certain rolls were paused to maintain quality. That kind of decision aligns with food safety recommendations from the FDA regarding freshness and sourcing, even if it means limiting options temporarily.

If there’s a limitation, it’s that the dining area is modest, so peak hours can feel tight. Still, most guests seem unfazed, judging by the steady stream of positive reviews mentioning reliability and flavor over ambiance. Words like fresh ingredients, quick service, and consistent quality come up often, and based on experience, those descriptions hold up.

Ginger & Garlic Chinese & Sushi Restaurant isn’t trying to reinvent Chinese or Japanese cuisine. Instead, it delivers familiar dishes with care, respects the basics of proper preparation, and understands what locals want from a dependable restaurant. That combination of practical expertise, honest service, and repeatable results is what keeps it firmly in the rotation for many Rockledge diners, myself included.

I come here almost every week, this place is the absolute best Chinese food I’ve ever had, and you will ever find in the state of Florida. The wonderful lady waitress is so sweet and personable and will memorize your orders if you become a regular. I have yet to have a disappointment meal. The food is also made with a flour base instead of corn starch, so you don’t feel sick afterwards like some other Chinese restaurants. Highly recommend and must try!!!

We’ve driven by the place multiple times. We decided to eat dinner here. My wife has been looking for a place with fried rice that is not yellow. Food was delicious. She had the pork fried rice, Mongolian Beef and an egg roll. I had the General Tso’s with white rice and an egg roll. The fried rice was good. Exactly what she was looking for: the General Tso’s was excellent. The sauce is not too thick and the chicken is crispy and light. We definitely recommend it. The place was busy with people picking up their orders. Don’t be fooled by the exterior or interior. This place is really good.

This place is outstanding. I love the fact that I could get sushi and Chinese food under the same roof. It's a family business and they pay attention to detail. Everything is freshly made and delicious. This was my fourth visit and I tried the house special Curry that includes chicken pork and shrimp with vegetables. Absolutely delicious. I told them I was going to post about this on social media because I want more people to check out this little local family business. They are pretty awesome.

Best Chinese in Brevard to sit down and eat at in my opinion. Great price to. Family owned and very nice and caring for customers. You won't go anywhere else after

We have been seeking a quality sushi place since moving to Cocoa from San Diego nearly two years ago. It has been disappointing, to say the least. On a Friday night, we decided to try out this place on a whim. The start was not promising...Friday night, about 6:30pm and no more that 3 tables occupied. uh-oh. However, we ventured on and were pleasantly surprised. I order the the gyoza and the rainbow roll with raw salmon, white fish and tuna (I wanted to smoke test their freshness). My wife order the Shumai and Volcano Roll. All were excellent and beyond expectations. Was it San Diego quality sushi? Very, very close... I really hope their customer base increases and they stay in business, because they really deserve it! We will be back to do our part.

We went there for lunch during the week, so there was no wait time. The service was very quick and friendly. The entire lunch was only around 30 minutes from sit down to check paid. I ordered the Pork Lo Mein, and it was outstanding. I have not been there for dinner, but at lunch, you get your choice of soup, choice of rice, and an egg roll. I clearly didn't eat all of the food, but it was good.

By far the best sushi restaurant in Brevard County. There Chinses food is also great. It is very fresh and homemade. The reason I say that is because I am sensitive to MSG (it gives me headaches) and I never get one here so I think they are very careful with the ingredients. The family is also super nice and works very hard.
